Assignment 2

So here comes the big challenge-modelling the mouse!

Apparently I didn't fully disassemble this mouse back in the light studio when i was shooting the exploded photo. I found that there are actually more parts when I got home and started checking them.. the second photo was shot at home so it seems a little bit dark

I chose to start with the simple internal parts first.For this battery, only one step of revelove was used to complete it.

Then it's the scrolling wheel. I used revolve to create the general shape first then used extrude cut and circular pattern for the cut outs and the indents.

 The only thing confused me is the number of the cuts..I had counted for 3 times to make sure it's the right number..and since the cut outs are just too tiny to measure, most dimensions were determined by my eyes..

So here is the completed lego minifugure.I have to say I've being very inefficient for modelling this whole thing. i can't remember how many hours i have spent on this but it's definitely beyond my expectation. Hopefully i will be more efficiently in the future while i am getting familiar to use solidworks.

For the accessory, i modeled a simple version airplane which the legowoman is supposed to be able to sit on it. For the purpose of saving time, i only modeled three parts: the main body, the propeller,and the lights. I used the "Flex" tool to help to draw the propeller.

hardest part

The arm is definitely the hardest part to model since it is a more organic shape compared to the other parts of the lego minifure, i didn't follow the steps from the demo but I did figure out a different way to build it.

After extrusion and fillet the upper arm, I loft a surface to cut the extra part

and then use loft to connect the the elbow to the end of the arm

here is the completed left arm. I am happy with the overall shape although it is not the best quality.
