assignment3 sketch & soft model

While I was thinking about how should I redesign the mouse, I saw a picture of a cartoon duck, the webbed feet of it just gave me the idea. A little bit weird though, I think it is very funny to design a mouse like that. 

so I did a quick sketch on the paper. i tried to keep it organic and ergonomic as well.

 the I went to the workshop and used clay as the material to create a soft model

Finally the modelling of logitech mouse has been completed!


I tried my best to make the pcb board as detailed as I can. I draw all the components in one part file in order to save time. I used 3Dsketch and then sweep to generate the coil.I even put a decal on it so that it would look more realistic

I chose rubber as the material of the grip, but the texture turned to be rougher than I thought.

 The modelling of the exterior surface has been taking up a lot of  time but it has been worth it. I think I might lag behind others but by all means I am trying to catch up and complete this on time.

The bottom of the middle section seems not that accurate since it is not supposed to lean inwards. I think the problem must be on the section spline since the surface was loft through it. but it didn't work as I wanted even after I adjusted the spline. Gonna need to check other process and make it more realistic.

The hand grip seems pretty much like the real one though.

I feel so lucky that the "thicken" actually works and the battery doors comes to be pretty good.

week 9

I had some problems when trimming spline of the "tallest point" using construction lines. it just tend to trim the whole half spline which is not what I want. so I redraw the construction line using "3d sketch" instead and it worked. this time the spline was trimmed successfully.

Another problem is that when I tried to do the boundary surface, I didn't know why there was always a "hole" and  they just cannot connect perfectly, then I found that's because I selected the surface edge instead of the spline as the "direction 1".

 

It become okay when I changed to select the splines as the direction 1 .

week 8

I have to say that it took me a lot of time to adjust each spline and align them in the correct position. the projected spline would have problems such as not able to be a closure if the original splines are not aligned . In order to do that, I sketched many center lines to help me to identify the position. kinda messy but they do help a lot.

one problem encountered is that surface I wanted to create always got one quarter missed. then I found out then I just need to click the "close the loft" and the problem solved.

Just started the surface modeling by following the videos step by step. This is a really challenge to me.

When I attempted to project the bottom curve, I cannot manage to make it into a closure. I had tried a few times but it just didn't work out as the way it should be.Then I realized that I made a stupid mistake-- I put the bottom picture upside down so that it didn't match with the split line!! So i had to go back to rotate 180 degree of the bottom picture and sketch.
